Job Description

Position Overview

The "Head of Trade Services" is a senior leadership role responsible for defining the strategic direction, ensuring operational excellence, and driving the overall performance of the Trade Services team. This pivotal role ensures the efficient, compliant, and client-centric delivery of all trade finance services, actively safeguarding the bank's interests, and fostering continuous improvement and innovation.

 

Job Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Team Management:

  • Lead and champion initiatives for process optimization, digital transformation, and the adoption of best practices within the Trade Services team.
  • Oversee resource planning, allocation, and performance management to ensure optimal team efficiency and exceptional service delivery.

Governance, Risk Management & Compliance:

  • Implement robust policies, procedures, and internal controls in compliance with local, Head Office, and international trade finance regulations (e.g., AML/CFT, sanctions, UCP, ISBP).
  • Develop and oversee comprehensive risk management frameworks.
  • Ensure the integrity and security of all trade finance operations.

Operational Excellence & Client Partnership:

  • Cultivate strong partnerships with Relationship Managers, the Head of Trade Finance, and other business units to deeply understand client needs, adeptly address complex inquiries, and strategically support the growth of the bank’s trade finance portfolio.
  • Champion a client-centric approach, fostering the delivery of exceptional service quality and tailored solutions.

Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration:

  • Serve as the primary liaison for internal and external auditors, regulators, and other key stakeholders, ensuring transparency, effective communication, and timely resolution of inquiries.
  • Represent the Trade Services team in strategic bank-wide projects, system implementations, and new product development initiatives.

 

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field. A Master's degree or professional certifications (e.g., CDCS, CSDG) are highly preferred.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in Trade Finance operations within a global or regional banking environment, with at least 7 years in a leadership role.
  • Comprehensive expertise in a full range of international trade finance products (e.g., LCs, SBLCs, Guarantees, Collections, various financing structures, risk participation) coupled with a deep understanding of associated international rules and practices (UCP, ISBP, URDG, ISP).
  • Expert knowledge of financial regulations, compliance standards (AML/CFT, sanctions), and MAS frameworks relevant to trade finance.
  • Demonstrated track record in strategic planning, driving significant operational improvements, and leading successful change management initiatives.
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in modern trade finance platforms, reporting tools, and advanced office applications.
